The usual second destination in Iran does not have the splendour of Ispahan, but for me it was my first Iranian city as I imagined them, and I must say,it was love at first sight. The city was hit by severe flooding days before I arrived and the traces were still visible. Draught had been so extreme and long lasting that people had started constructing on river beds. Climate change may have been the culprit, but human error achieved the rest.
The city has a nice bazar (Bazar-e Vakil), a picturesque but not visitable fortress and a relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, there is nothing going on in the night, apart from night photographing the castle…
