Sancti Spiritu is often compared to Trinidad without the hassle. I can say this is true, but the place definitely lacks the scene of Trinidad too (eating, drinking…). It was a long way getting there, but we finally made it, and all things said and done, I am glad we did not get to spend more time there. Don’t miss out on coffee at Cubita! This is your chance of having a decent espresso and mixing with locals, at 10 degrees Celsius…

As for Santa Clara, it can certainly help you better understand the history of the island, but apart from that, if you are not interested in mausoleums and had there not been the incident of the derailed train that really changed the history of Cuba, there would be no reason to stop. The Ché mausoleum is a characteristic sample of communist extravaganza in an otherwise too poor country to afford it.
